Frequently Asked Questions

Every project comes with its own questions. Here we have answered the most important ones upfront.

openmaind makes intralogistics transparent, plannable and controllable. With INSIGHT, PLANNING and ORCHESTRATE, we enable companies to understand, simulate and coordinate manual and autonomous fleets in one system.

Production environments typically use vehicles from multiple vendors. openmaind integrates these systems into a unified platform, eliminating siloed solutions and vendor lock-in.

Yes. openmaind is hardware-agnostic and supports VDA 5050 for standardised communication with autonomous mobile robots (AMRs, AGVs) from different manufacturers.

AI analysis creates transparency around idle times, bottlenecks, traffic flows and critical zones. Companies gain data-driven decision foundations for process optimisation and automation – instead of gut feeling.

openmaind PLANNING simulates intralogistics on the basis of real layouts. Companies can compare scenarios, calculate vehicle requirements and identify bottlenecks in advance – before any investment is made.

openmaind ORCHESTRATE distributes orders dynamically, adjusts routes situationally and coordinates hybrid fleets – comparable to Google Maps for intralogistics, but purpose-built for production environments.

Yes. The platform coordinates manual vehicles (such as forklifts and tugger trains) and autonomous robots in a single unified system – even without full automation.

Typical metrics include throughput, utilisation, vehicle requirements, bottleneck analysis, idle times and safety assessments – all based on real movement data from your operations.

Yes. Customers define clear rules, boundaries and permissions within which the AI operates – such as prioritisation logic, safety zones, approval levels and integration interfaces. The AI optimises, but never overrides internal company guidelines.

Yes. The AI platform is suitable for individual plants as well as international production networks with multiple locations.

Yes. Integrators can embed openmaind as a vendor-agnostic orchestration layer into existing projects – scalable, future-proof, and with lower resource requirements.

The platform meets modern IT and data security standards and is designed for industrial enterprise environments. openmaind is currently working towards ISO 27001 certification.

AI enables adaptive decisions instead of static rules – increasing efficiency, safety and responsiveness in an environment that changes daily.

Manufacturing companies, logistics centres and industrial enterprises with manual or autonomous fleets – whether mid-market or enterprise, single site or global network.

openmaind is a strategic AI platform for intelligent intralogistics – combining transparency, simulation and real-time orchestration in one system that scales with your operations.

Our AI handles operational decisions within fleet control: order assignment, route planning, traffic coordination, congestion prevention and timely scheduling of charging cycles – always within the customer-defined rules and boundaries.

A Fleet Management System (FMS) is software that centrally coordinates and controls multiple autonomous vehicles — such as AGVs and AMRs. It handles tasks like route planning, collision avoidance, task assignment, and real-time monitoring of the entire fleet.

AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) follow fixed, predefined routes — typically via magnets, tracks, or QR codes. AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots) navigate flexibly and independently without fixed routes. AMRs are more adaptable; AGVs are more robust for repetitive, standardized processes.

VDA 5050 is an open communication standard that enables AGVs and AMRs from different manufacturers to be controlled through a single unified interface. For companies, this means no vendor lock-in, easier integration of new vehicles, and a future-proof fleet.

AI-based fleet control analyzes the status of all vehicles, current orders, and obstacles in real time — and automatically makes decisions about routes, priorities, and resource allocation. The result: higher utilization, fewer bottlenecks, and faster response to changes on the floor.

openmaind is suited for any industry using automated intralogistics — particularly manufacturing, automotive, e-commerce, pharma, and food logistics. The software is vendor-agnostic and scales from small pilot projects to large multi-vendor fleets.

A traditional Fleet Management System (FMS) coordinates vehicles from a single manufacturer — managing routes, tasks, and status within a homogeneous fleet. A Fleet Orchestrator like openmaind goes further: it integrates AGVs and AMRs from multiple manufacturers through open standards like VDA 5050 into a single, AI-powered platform. While an FMS manages, openmaind orchestrates — planning, prioritizing, and optimizing the entire fleet in real time, across all vendors.

No. AI is our tool – not a substitute for real conversation. Our platform uses AI to analyse, simulate and control intralogistics. But good solutions emerge through dialogue – which is why personal exchange matters just as much as the technology.
